The idea that introducing one language would improve international relations seems to me strange, not to say incautious and even stupid. Moreover, I believe it is still rather unrealistic.
There are several issues that need to be commented on when considering this question. First of all, as far as it is possible, there already exists, unofficially but still, one common language spoken worldwide. May it be politics, business or just tourism, when people who speak different languages meet, they most certainly will choose English as their common ground for communication.
Secondly, the reality is that still a whole lot of people in this world do not speak this language. It may seem to us, young Poles, that everyone should know it or at least be learning it and that in some the question: "Do you speak English?" will become ridiculous. But in the real world nothing is that simple. some people are just not able to achieve a good command of any foreign language, while others believe that forcing them to speak a different language than their own mother tongue constitutes an attack on their cultural sovereignty.
Third, probably most important and finally related to international relations, it would be really troublesome and dangerous to even propose it to the worldwide community. Although English is right now definitely the language of international communication people would protest vigorously against making it official, what means that it would not only not improve international relations but even make them more difficult and hostile.
